Small Things And Great Things

When we give ourselves to the Lord we give Him a small thing and when He gives us Himself He gives us The Greatest Thing. We give Him temporary lives and He gives us eternal life. We give Him a cheap and worthless thing and He gives us a valuable thing. We give Him an evil thing and He gives us a good thing. We give Him weakness and He gives us strength. We give Him our lostness and He gives us guidance. We were dead in sin and now we are alive in Christ. We were on the way to the Lake of Fire and now we are on the way to Paradise. We were spiritually blind and now He gives us spiritual perception. We were ignorant and now He gives us knowledge. We were lost and now we are found. We lacked wisdom and now He wants to provide it. We were under the wrath of God and now we are in His love. We were headed for justice and now we have mercy. We were in Adam and now we are in Christ. We were joyless and now we are joyful. We were on quicksand and now we are on a rock. We were slaves to sin and now we are free. We were useless and He has made us useful. We give Him vanity and He gives us substance. We give Him nothing and He gives us everything. We were without hope and now we have a blessed hope. The list of these wonderful exchanges would be endless.

Mark 8:35: For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel*s, the same shall save it. 36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Luke 18:22: Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

2 Corinthians 8:9: For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

2 Corinthians 12:10: Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ*s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Matthew 6:19: Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

1 Timothy 6:17: Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; 19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

1 Corinthians 15:53: For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
